Exit-Intent Targeting

Last updated on May 27, 2025

Exit-intent targeting detects when a visitor is about to leave your site—like when they move their mouse toward the browser’s close button—and shows a campaign just before they go. It's a great way to catch attention before visitors leave.

PageUni apps offer exit-intent targeting with customizable trigger sensitivity. It only takes a few clicks to set up.

Exit-intent detection works slightly differently on touch and mouse devices:

  • On touch devices (like phones or tablets): It’s triggered when a user quickly scrolls up the page—usually a sign they’re about to leave.

  • On mouse devices (like desktop computers): It’s triggered when the mouse moves quickly toward the top of the browser (as if to close the tab), or when it leaves the browser window for a short moment—suggesting the visitor might not come back.

The exit-intent targeting rule offers three detection sensitivity options: Low, Medium, and High. The higher the sensitivity, the more easily the exit intent will be triggered.
